In an industry where success is often measured by the bottom line, Sienna Rickert uses a different metric: meaningful connections.
Marketing appealed to Sienna for its unique combination of strategy and creativity — an opportunity to help uplift people and bring their ideas to life.
“Marketing allows you to help businesses bring their product or idea to life and raise awareness,” she says. “I love that marketing involves understanding what people want and finding ways to connect with them.”
When considering where to start her educational journey, Sienna approached the decision like any good marketer — by evaluating the metrics. She considered affordability, opportunities for hands-on learning and practical experience, a career focused approach and flexible scheduling options.
One of the biggest considerations, however, was the number of transfer agreements Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) holds with four-year universities. Among the most recent additions were several business pathways — including the Marketing program — to UW-Green Bay that begins in fall of 2026.
This flexibility gave Sienna both time and space to explore her field.
“Going into college, I knew I had an interest in marketing, but not much more,” Sienna says. “Now, just a few days from graduation, I feel that I have a strong foundation of knowledge that has truly prepared me for furthering my education and my next internship or career.”

I have a strong foundation of knowledge that has truly prepared me for furthering my education and my next internship or career.
Through her studies at FVTC, Sienna developed real-world marketing skills using industry-standard tools and technologies, including Microsoft products and the Adobe Creative Suite. She also earned several certifications in key marketing systems and gained hands-on experience through an internship with the FVTC Marketing Department.
That same flexibility extended beyond the classroom, allowing Sienna to pursue one of her passions outside of school: traveling. By taking several courses online, she was able to continue her education while exploring destinations around the world.
It feels fitting, then, that Sienna will celebrate her graduation with a two-week trip to Europe. International experiences will continue to play a role in her future plans as well. After completing a full-time summer internship with Plexus Corporation, Sienna intends to continue her education at UW-Green Bay in the fall.
“During my time at UWGB, I plan to do a summer study abroad in France in order to gain international business experience,” she says.
To her fellow FVTC students, Sienna offers this word of encouragement:
“Start your education at Fox Valley Technical College. It’s affordable, career-focused and a great place to gain a foundation of knowledge. You can then transfer to a university and further your education. FVTC will help you every step of the way.”
