Why did you choose this career program?

I enjoy hands on work and using problem solving skills on a daily basis. Home building has always been something that I found a great amount of interest in whether it would be working for someone else or even building my own home one day. This field of work has an endless opportunity as there will always be a need for it.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I think the demand for jobs in the construction field is extremely rewarding because you will not have to stress about job security. There will always be a need for the trades which makes me very confident in the career path I am choosing.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

While attending my senior year of high school I began to look into what I wanted to do next whether that was jump into the workforce or continue my education. I heard that Fox Valley Technical College offered tons of different programs for all kinds of career paths. After some thought and conversation with family, I decided to attend FVTC because i could stay local and I found a program that I thought I might really enjoy.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

FVTC has offered me a further education in order to be more prepared when taking my first steps into a career. I think it was extremely beneficial deciding to go back to school because I will be entering the workforce with more experience than other possible job applicants that may have not attended and further education.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I would like to find a job as a residential carpenter possibly doing interior carpentry on custom homes.

What’s your best advice for someone who’s not sure they’re ready for college?

If we wait until we are ready, we’ll be waiting for the rest of our lives.
