Why did you choose this career program?
I didn’t choose Supply Chain at first, but finding it after my original plan fell through became a turning point for me. Learning about the program showed me many opportunities, and it eventually led to a job in maintenance planning and scheduling — something I never expected but truly appreciate. What started as an unplanned change became the path that fits my strengths and supports my future goals.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
I’ve learned that the supply chain field is practical and rewarding, especially because it connects to my experience as a machine operator. Understanding how equipment, materials and processes work on the production floor helped me use my Supply Chain education to move into maintenance planning and scheduling. It’s meaningful to see how the skills I’m building now can open more opportunities and support my long‑term career growth.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose Fox Valley Technical College because it’s close to home and offers online classes, which made it easier for me to balance school with my schedule. The teachers are very supportive, and the programs are designed to connect directly to real jobs. That practical approach helped me use my Supply Chain education to move from being a machine operator into a career in maintenance planning and scheduling.
How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?
Fox Valley Technical College opened doors I didn’t expect and gave me the confidence and knowledge to grow in a field that now supports my long‑term goals.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I expect to continue in my current role as a maintenance scheduler, but I’m also very interested in exploring the procurement side of supply chain. Procurement appeals to me because it involves working with suppliers, building relationships and sometimes traveling — things that would let me grow my skills and meet new people. It feels like a natural next step as I learn more about the field and look for opportunities to expand my career.
What’s your best advice for someone who’s not sure they’re ready for college?
The biggest advice I can give to someone is to not let other people’s limited imagination limit you. When I decided to go back to school, some people told me it was a waste of time and doubted that I would finish. I felt frustrated and almost gave up when my first program didn’t work out, but I learned that things happen for a reason. Trust yourself, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and don’t let failures define who you are. Never doubt your ability to grow, and remember that at the end of the day, you are the author of your own life.
