Not Your Everyday Vehicle Donation

GM donates rare Cadillac sedan to GM ASEP program

Talk about a fancy set of wheels.

Automotive Technology GM ASEP students recently welcomed a 2020 Cadillac CT6 V Blackwing to campus, a generous donation from General Motors.

What’s so special about this Caddy? Let us list the ways: the four-door sedan is one of only 600 built between the U.S. and Canada. The hand-built 4.2-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine boasts 550 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. It’s capable of 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 200 miles per hour. Simply put, this unique vehicle is versatile enough to transport a family or compete on a racetrack without any modifications.

Beyond the cool factor of this vehicle, it has many advanced technology features. That will give students the ability to diagnose some of the most sophisticated systems available from General Motors and they will do it in a real-world, hands-on environment.

“The partnership between GM and FVTC has been simply amazing,” says Bob Hicks, GM ASEP instructor and program coordinator. “Their continued support towards the education of up-and-coming technicians at FVTC has never been more apparent. Because of their generous donations, our students are thriving in an industry that is technology-driven and changing daily. Our students learn by doing and without the donations, that part of their learning would not be attainable.”

The vehicle donation comes as FVTC celebrates the 25th anniversary of the General Motors Automotive Service Education Program (GM ASEP) at the college. This is the 82nd vehicle donated by GM, along with hundreds of other component and tool donations.
