A new large-scale mural is coming to Fox Valley Technical College’s Riverside Campus in Oshkosh, creating a visual connection between the Fox River, the college and the future workforce.
Commissioned through Discover Oshkosh’s Riverwalk public art initiative, the mural is being created by nationally recognized muralist Nick Goettling of Tacoma, Washington. The artwork will transform a prominent exterior wall on campus and become part of a growing collection of murals along Oshkosh’s riverfront.
Inspired by the Fox River and the academic programs offered in Oshkosh, the mural reflects the connection between Oshkosh’s industrial roots and the careers helping drive the region forward today.
The project also reflects FVTC’s commitment to preparing students for in-demand careers while strengthening ties to the communities it serves.

“We are excited to see this project come to life,” says Ann Wilkes, director of Regional Operations at FVTC. “The Riverside Campus is uniquely connected to Oshkosh’s history and its future. The mural will not only celebrate the Fox River’s role in shaping our community, but also celebrate the students, alumni and programs that define Riverside Campus.”
“We love doing these projects as partnerships,” says Amy Albright, executive director of Discover Oshkosh. “Fox Valley Technical College has long been preparing the people who keep our region moving forward. This mural recognizes that education is part of Oshkosh’s story. It’s a celebration of the river that built our city and the students who will help build what’s next.”
An award-winning muralist and illustrator, Nick is known for creating artwork that reflects the history, character and aspirations of the communities where his murals are installed. The Riverside mural will be his third one in Wisconsin.

The mural is part of a broader effort by Discover Oshkosh to encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s 11-mile riverwalk trails. More mural projects are planned throughout Oshkosh in the coming months.
Installation of the mural began last week and should be done right before the fall semester begins on August 24th.
