New technical diploma offered in fall 2023

It’s barely summer but we are already looking to the fall semester, and with it, several new learning opportunities at Fox Valley Technical College.

The Project Specialist technical diploma is a new offering within the Business area and can be completed fully online. Here are five frequently asked questions about the career pathway. Lisa Hubert, Business Analyst department chair provides the answers.

What is the Project Specialist technical diploma all about?

The Project Specialist technical diploma is about understanding project management techniques and applying them to the project life cycle. The coursework in this program can be used to prepare for different industry certifications. All courses transfer into the Business Analyst associate degree.

Why did FVTC decide to add this option now?

Since launching the Business Analyst program in 2018, we’ve been hearing from local employers about the need for project management skills in the workforce. Project management and business analyst jobs closely align with each other, and the addition of this technical diploma gives our students more flexibility to obtain the education they need.

Who should consider exploring this program?

If the following skills apply to you, you may want to consider the Project Specialist program:

  • Strong verbal and written communication Skills
  • Interest in problem-solving
  • Skilled in conflict management and relationship building
  • Time management
  • Forward thinker and detail-oriented
  • MS Office Suite and ability to learn and adapt to other software programs
