Training Police from Around the World

Fox Valley Technical College’s Public Safety Training Center (PSTC) set the stage for a day of high-tech, hands-on experiences for more than 50 police officers representing nearly 30 nations. The June 13 event was part of the International Police Association’s (IPA) visit to the Midwest to expose its younger members to best practices in American law enforcement.

The PSTC is one of the nation’s premiere facilities for integrative training that includes law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, and related disciplines. Due to its expansive acreage, expert instructors, world class training simulation, and village concept, the facility regularly attracts public safety practitioners from around the nation for continuous education. The IPA function turned the center into a global gathering of shared practices from officers who are dedicated to keeping the world safer.

In addition, the PSTC hosted the International Association of Chiefs of Police Women’s Leadership Institute in partnership with the Appleton Police Department. The same day event of the IPA training session was designed to help aspiring female members of law enforcement become police chiefs or hold other positions of leadership. The synergies between all of the organizations that day produced an impromptu networking opportunity in what morphed into a global celebration of the badge. Business card exchanges followed a fest of handshakes while cameras flashed and recorded in the spirit of service and protection wherever duty calls worldwide.

The PSTC opened in January of 2015 as the centerpiece project of FVTC’s successful public referendum in 2012. Learn more >>
