Achievement Against the Odds Awards

Thanks to support from Community First Credit Union, Fox Valley Technical College celebrated the achievements of five deserving students at the 37th annual Achievement Against the Odds Awards.

There were many outstanding nominations and those who rose to the top have truly overcome daunting challenges and are well on their way to successful and productive careers.

Since 1989, 185 Fox Valley Technical College students have been recognized for their extraordinary accomplishments. Achievement Against the Odds recognizes students who are achieving academically despite obstacles. Nominated by FVTC faculty and staff, five people are selected for this award each year. This year, there were 21 nominees.

Kelly Gruber (Interior Design) nominated by Student Services counselor Kara Nowak and supported by instructor Kris Hackl

Sarah Hetchler (Early Childhood Education) nominated by Early Childhood Education department chair Kathy Meetz and instructor Judi Bourin

Breanna Taylor (Nursing) nominated by Dual Credit specialist Kamala Alexandra Mischler
