The advisors on the FVTC Career Services team have always provided students with coaching on resumes, interviewing, networking and job search strategies. Now they are adding AI to their toolkit to further customize support and build students’ job‑ready skills.
“Working with students across 200+ academic programs, we use Microsoft Copilot to tailor practice interviews to each student’s unique career goals,” Career Advisor Amy Hodson explains. “This added customization creates a more realistic, job‑specific mock interview experience and allows advisors to focus more deeply on skill development with each student.”
The team also coaches students to use AI prompting for employer research and networking. “AI‑driven searches help students explore industries, identify employers and prepare to make meaningful connections,” Amy says.
“We carefully advise students that these searches are a good starting point and then encourage them to dive deeper by researching and following employers on LinkedIn, Handshake, the company website and news platforms.”
