Five FAQs: University Transfer

AA/AS program allows students to start a bachelor’s degree at FVTC

Earlier this year, Fox Valley Technical College officially signed several articulation agreements that will allow students to earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science from FVTC and seamlessly transfer to partner colleges to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Henry Merrill, associate dean of General Studies, answers five frequently asked questions about these two new options for students looking for a more affordable way to start college.

What is the university transfer option all about?

The AA/AS University Transfer program is designed for students interested in a flexible, affordable and close-to-home option to begin their pursuit of a bachelor’s degree. We have transfer agreements with our partners at UW Oshkosh, UW-Green Bay and Lakeland University which allows students to start at FVTC, complete an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science and then continue their education with guaranteed acceptance and junior standing.

Why did FVTC decide to add this program now?

For many students, working or taking care of family while also attending school is a necessity. The flexibility in course modality (face-to-face, online, virtual, and hybrid) allows you to build a course schedule around your work and family needs.

Who should consider exploring this program?

Students with the goal of earning a bachelor’s degree and a desire to get started immediately. If affordability is important, this is a perfect fit where quality instruction is available at a more affordable price. A student who excels more in a smaller class setting would also benefit from this program.

What should prospective students know about the Associate of Arts?

The AA degree emphasizes the areas of humanities and social science. Among others, courses include literature, psychology, sociology and economics. The degree consists of 60 credits, including 39-41 credits of general education and 19-21 credits of electives.

What should prospective students know about the Associate of Science?

The AS degree emphasizes the areas of math and natural science. Available courses include algebra, calculus, statistics, chemistry, biology and physics. This degree also consists of 60 credits with 39-41 credits of general education and 19-21 credits of electives.
