A Voice for Opportunity

FVTC ambassador Evan Olson shares his story at the WTCS banquet

Wednesday, June 17, 2026|By Carmelyn Daley-Hinkens

When Evan Olson recently stepped up to the podium to share his story with the crowd, he knew his words represented more than just himself.

As Fox Valley Technical College’s 2026 Wisconsin Technical College System student ambassador, Evan serves as a voice for his classmates and the college by advocating for the technical education.

A Professional Communications student at FVTC, Evan taps into polished public speaking skills to share his educational journey – one he will be the first to admit began with a healthy dose of skepticism. Before enrolling at FVTC, he questioned whether college was the right fit.

In the video below, recorded during the Wisconsin Technical College System Ambassador Banquet, Evan explains how his experience at FVTC transformed his outlook on education and how opportunities like the ambassador program have empowered him to encourage others to take that first step.
