Career EXCELerate Celebrates Multiple Milestones

Success leads to an extension of the program

Fox Valley Technical College helped celebrate the latest cohort of students to complete educational certificates through Career EXCELerate. More than 65 students completed training programs in such areas as welding, early childhood, truck driving, manufacturing, nursing assistant and patient care.

With support from a Workforce Innovation Grant from the State of Wisconsin, Career EXCELerate began in summer of 2022 as a partnership program with Goodwill North Central Wisconsin (Goodwill NCW), FVTC and Rawhide Youth Services.

Since its inception, the program has reached and exceeded several goals. One initial goal was to serve 460 individuals through the life of the grant. As of April 2025, that goal had been surpassed by 173 to 633 individuals overall. And earlier this spring, the program reached a significant milestone of 200 participants employed.

Due to this success, the grant has been extended one year, until June 2026. One key update is that the program will be open to all unemployed or underemployed individuals.

The program is enrolling for its next cohort. Educational tracks include:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (online and in classroom)
  • Patient Care Tech
  • Manufacturing Technician
  • Welding Fundamentals
  • Professional Truck Driving – Class A
  • Retail Essentials
  • Certified Direct Care Professional (online in partnership with WisCaregiver Careers)
