Mental Health Awareness Month is recognized nationally during the month of May, in an effort to raise awareness of those living with mental health issues, as well as to help reduce the stigma associated with mental health.
At Fox Valley Technical College, we are committed to creating an environment where students and staff feel safe and supported year-round. Initiatives include mental health counseling for students through FVTC Counseling Services, EAP counseling for staff, continuous QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer suicide prevention) and mental health first aid trainings for staff and students, and mental health-related student focused activities.
FVTC is recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month with at following events:
Mental Health Awareness Walk
Between May 4-8, students and staff are invited to participate in a 3K walk around the Appleton campus. The route follows the sidewalk around the main campus and features signs with mental health statistics, information and words of encouragement.
Participants can pick up free giveaway items, water and granola bars at Entrances 1, 3 and 10. The walk can be completed anytime during the week at your own pace.
De-Stress with Pets
Student Life Event
On May 5, take a breather during and stop by the Spectator’s Lounge (Student Life Office). From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., there will be dogs from the Fox Valley Humane Association excited to meet you and help melt away any stressors from the day.
